On average the gas use for a house in the UK is 25kWh/m2 pa, however in commercial offices the average is 6x as much at 150kWh/m2 pa (CIBSE). Best practice in offices is still over 4x as much at 110kWh/m2 pa. AM Engineering Ltd has been reprogramming the Building Management System of commercial offices to achieve gas use per floor area much closer to domestic use. On one of our sites gas use is 32kWh/m2 pa inclusive of heating of water and 20kWh/m2 pa for just heating.
